Marriage for Couples Outside of the Catholic Tradition

The clergy of the Evangelical Catholic Church is permitted to witness civil marriages of couples who are both outside of the Catholic tradition. 

Such marriages, often referred to in the past as “rectory marriages,” fulfill the civil requirements but does not fulfill the norms and form for a sacramental marriage.
