Bishop Calls for Lenten Prayer and Fasting
to
Bring About End to War in Iraq
Bishop James Wilkowski, Evangelical Catholic Bishop for the Diocese of the Northwest calls upon members of all Catholic and Christian faith jurisdictions to enter into the spirit of Prayer and Fasting during the coming period of Lent to bring about and end to the war in Iraq for the safe return of all American military service men and women to their families and friends.
With the permission of his personal physician, Dr. Paul Chemello, the Bishop himself will partake of only one modest meal per day at noon and shall focus his prayers and celebration of the Eucharist on ending the war in Iraq and for international cause of peace.
The bishop encourages all who wish to join him in this time of prayer and fasting to consult with their physicians before doing so.
May the prayers and acts of fasting help to bring about the safe return of our men and women in uniform from Iraq.
