Boycott the Congress Hotel and Convention Center of Chicago

For the past two years, minimum wage workers at Chicago's Congress Hotel and Convention Center have been on strike for better salaries and working conditions.  The owner of the Congress Hotel and Convention Center,  Albert Nasser Shayo, has refused to engage in good faith bargaining with striking workers.  The owner has hired replacement workers in retaliation to those who went out on strike.

As a catholic faith community bound by the call of social justice and peace, we must stand and lend our voices to support these workers.

The Evangelical Catholic Diocese of Northwest calls for a boycott of the Congress Hotel and Convention Center.  We call upon all union workers to refuse to cross the picket line of those who are on strike.  We call upon all who wish to book personal reservations to do so with the many other Chicago Hotels who respect the rights of union workers.  We also call upon conventions to books their events at other hotels and convention centers here in Chicago.
